3 Jun: Ultreia et Suseia: Day 4 (Montaigu-Vendée to La Rochelle)

With rain forecast we set out with some trepidation, but the weather held for the morning even if conditions were cool and grey.However we dodged the rain until lunch at Lucon, when the drizzle set in. With a strong SW wind the final hours of the day were tough ... the phrase "worse than The Fens" was even uttered.La Rochelle looked attractive but were were in no mood to sadly so made a beeline for the hotel and it was convenient nearby pizza, rather fruits de mer, for supper.
