It had rained heavily overnight, which had the welcome effect of clearing the air. We set out onto quiet roads in attractive countryside and the terrain flattened as we transitioned from Brittany into the Vendée. After coffee and pastries in Nozay we turned SE and the belting Westerly helped us along the ling straight roads.The downside of the more unsettled weather is, however, rain and we had to take shlter during a sharp shower. Bill and John passed the time by reminiscing about Alfie Bass.The approach to Nantes (for lunch) was a mirror of thatbto Rennes, with lots of cycle path action. And again, this started to become tiresome leaving town.

We eventually arrived at our B&B in Montaigu-Vendée which turned out to be an old school. We are sleeping in the old school room.
