Our AGM is on Sunday 14th November at 4.30pm in Haslingfield Village Hall, New Rd, Haslingfield, Cambridge CB23 1JP.
Because of the pandemic, not everyone may be able or willing to attend an indoor meeting at the moment. Having a mix of face-to-face meeting and reliable video conferencing is hard to arrange. So, this will be a face-to-face meeting, with no video alternative. However, we will be adding the option for members who don't plan to attend the AGM to vote in the elections by proxy.
We will announce all the candidates standing for election by 4pm on Thursday 11th November. Members not attending the meeting will then be able to submit a vote by email, text or phone until mid-day on Sunday 14th November, which will be counted at the meeting and added to the traditional show of hands - obviously if you vote before, you can't vote again at the meeting. Our outgoing Chair, Andy Carlyle, will receive these votes and ensure they are all counted at the AGM.
We are planning for similar numbers to attend the meeting as we have had at recent AGMs. We're taking the additional step of asking people to indicate if they plan to attend the AGM in advance, so we know how many people to expect. This will help us set out the hall with safe social distancing. Please either register via this link or let me know secretary@ctccambridge.org.uk / 07447 010628 (phone or text message is fine) if you plan to attend.
As always, all Committee posts are open for election, and any member can stand for any Committee post. Some current Committee members have said that they will be standing again. David Secher and Ray Miller have also said they are prepared to stand for election. Here is a list of the posts that we need to elect, and the current nominees. Nominations remain open until 4pm on Wednesday 10th November.
The club is very grateful to Andy, Richard and Susan, who are standing down after serving on the Committee over several years.
General Committee posts could be focused on particular areas where the club needs more help. John J and Nigel have suggested it would be helpful to have people on the Committee to manage our social media presence (Twitter, Facebook etc.) and / or work alongside our webmaster to keep the content of web pages up to date, as well as producing fresh web content. We'd also welcome people with other skills, interests and new ideas.
If you are interested in joining the Committee it would be great to hear from you. Contact secretary@ctccambridge.org.uk or 07447 010628 in the first instance. If you plan to stand for election, please let me know by 4pm on Wednesday 10th November so you can be included in the list of candidates for voting in advance of the meeting.
Please get in touch if you have questions, and thank you for supporting an AGM that has to be a little different from usual. We hope to be back to normal by Spring 2022. John Seton, Secretary
