Susan writes: Three CTC travellers (+ 1) went on an intrepid trip. We used bikes with two wheels. We could give information about chainssets and gears etc, if we knew what they were. But the bikes definitely had two wheels.
After a voyage across the ocean to St Malo we pointed our handlebars eastwards and set off for the first cake and coffee stop, arriving after 10 minutes and a 25 foot ascent. Phew! Made it.
We travelled for seven days, enjoying French cuisine, hospitality and du vin et les grands picnics. And especially the special interest from bemused French men...
400 miles swiftly passed us by, enjoying clear blue skies, the French ambience and the Normandy countryside.
Our sightseeing included a trip to Utah beach to see the Normandy landings, Bayeux and its tapestry and the historic town of Honfleur.
We arrived at our final destination of L'Havre raising a 🥃 to
our fellow travellers slogging it up to John o'Groats. And we still don't know what a chainset is.
