Sven writes: The ride today was going via the busway to Hemingford Abbots, a route which is very popular and has had to be delayed a few times now due to the short stretches of bike lane that had been flooded.
With news that the water had retreated, we set off via the North Cambridge train station and along the route to St Ives. With me for the ride today were Nigel, Tom N, Kenny, Seb, Gareth and Andrew.
It was chillier than I had anticipated, and I used the even path and straight line of the busway to start to layer up on my bike.
We made steady progress and passed the area that had been submerged, visible from the patches of mud and sand on the bike lane.

At the Axe and Compass in Hemingford Abbots, a group of Morris Dancers greeted us a lively performance.

As we had come for the food and drink, we only spent a short time admiring their efforts. After a pleasant hour at the well frequented pub, we set off for the leg back to Cambridge, via a very similar route.
I arrived home invigorated and slightly later than normally, having cycled
41 miles.
