Nigel writes: On tonight's evening ride I was joined by Jeremy and Jim, Jim's friends Dan and Paul on their first ride with us, and evening regulars Paul D and John E. It was a lovely sunny evening, though quite cool with a northerly breeze.
Our route this evening was a simple clockwise loop. We set off south out of Cambridge along the busway and DNA path to Great Shelford. We continued south through the back streets of Stapleford, and along the main road to Sawston.
In Sawston we turned west, past the school, over the by-pass and along the new off-road path to Whittlesford. Here we turned north-west to Newton, Harston and Haslingfield. After a fun but completely unnecessary excursion to top of Chapel Hill and back (which caused us to lose Jeremy) we continued on through Harlton and the Eversdens to Kingston.
At Kingston we turned east for the final few miles through Toft and Comberton to Barton, where we stopped for refreshments at The White Horse. We had hoped we might see Jeremy there but he was probably back home by now.
After a pleasant 45 minutes Paul, John and I returned back to Cambridge, leaving the other three in the pub for another drink. It was 9.15pm and the sun was just setting. I arrived back home at 9.45pm, having cycled
29 miles.
