Sheila writes: It was a cold, misty start when ten of us met st Haslingfield but, with the promise of a warm day once the sun showed itself, we set off up Chapel Hill where we picked up some additional riders, bringing the numbers to 14.
Coffee was on the green at Ashwell where we joined the City Slickers.
We cycled to lunch across the A505 passing Mill End, Cromer, Ardeley, Moor Green, Wood End, Westmill and ultimately arriving at Aspenden.
When the picnickers joined the village and city groups in The Fox in Aspenden, Andy produced his new toy - a pocket sized piece of electronic equipment which gives an ECG reading. Several of us had a go and the readings ranged from normal to unclassified. Answers on a postcard please as to who qualified for "unclassified"...
Lunch at The Fox, Aspenden
The route from lunch through Wyddial, Great Chisholm and down to Fowlmere was delightful. The sun was shining, the panoramic landscapes were showing the first golden colours of autumn and the bushes along the leafy lanes were bursting with red berries.
Arriving back in Haslingfield my Garmin showed
55 miles, with 2400 feet of climb at an average of 12.6 mph.
Thank you to my fellow riders for making it such a fun ride. I just love the banter!
