What does "leader needed" mean?

All our rides have a leader. If our website shows a ride as "leader needed" then it means that we are looking for a member to volunteer to lead the ride.

We aim to have a leader in place at least one week in advance, though sometimes the leader does not appear until a few days before the ride.

If we are unable to find a suitable leader then we will cancel the ride no later than 48 hours before it is due to start and our website will be updated to show this. However this is uncommon.

So if you would like to come on a ride, and the leader is shown as "leader needed", please don't be put off! Come back to our website a couple of days before the ride to confirm that the ride has a leader and is going ahead as planned. If a ride is cancelled we will update the ride description to say so.

Would you be able to lead a ride? If you are a Cycling UK member and have already taken part in a few of our rides then we would encourage you to try leading one. Please contact Rupert, our Runs Secretary (runs@ctccambridge.org.uk) if you'd like to discuss how to lead a ride. You can devise your own route (and Rupert is always happy to offer suggestions) or he can provide a complete route for you to follow.

Our Guidance for ride leaders contains more information on leading rides.
