When riding with the club, it is very useful if all riders have contact details with them in case of emergency, known as 'ICE'. There are two ways to do this:
- Carry an ICE card
If you'd like a card, contact the club's safeguarding officer safeguarding@ctccambridge.org.uk, who will arrange to provide one.
- Put your ICE details on your mobile phone
Your phone is likely to be protected by a passcode, but it can be set up so that your ICE information can be seen by others without them needing your passcode. This allows someone else to use your phone to make an emergency call, to call your next of kin, to see what medication you take, or to see your medical condition e.g. diabetes. You should only input information that you want to share with other people in an emergency situation.
In the event of an emergency
- Tap the screen to wake up the phone.
- Swipe your finger upwards from the bottom to display the passcode keypad.
- Tap "Emergency" at the bottom left of the screen to display another keypad. You can use that to ring 999.
- Tap on "* Medical ID" (on an Apple phone) or "View emergency info" (on an Android phone) to access any medical information and next of kin data.
How to set up ICE information on an Apple phone
- Click on the Health App (a white icon with a red heart) or in Settings select Emergency SOS and then select "Set up Emergency Contacts in Health" to take you to the Health App.
- Fill in the information you want to share under "Set up your Medical ID", such as emergency contacts, medications, allergies or conditions.
- Enable "Show when locked" under "Emergency Access".
How to set up ICE information on an Android phone
- Open Settings and select "Safety and emergency".
- Select "Medical info" to add your medical details. Enable "Show on Lock screen".
- Select "Emergency contacts" to add someone from your contacts. You can add more people if you wish. Enable "Show on Lock screen".
