As expected, the rules are changing on 29th March as part of the government roadmap out of lockdown. This means that we can restart some group rides. We plan to restart slowly with some booked rides for small groups of six and we plan to delay our restart until after the busy Easter weekend.
Informal groups of individuals are strictly limited to groups of six (the "rule of 6") and we think it is better for our club rides to follow the same rule at first. This means that we will restart with booked rides where you must contact the leader in advance of the ride to book a place. Please read our Supplementary Guide for Riders while Covid-19 restrictions apply.
There is an option for larger groups in the near future: Cycling UK are advising that larger groups are allowed under the organised sport exemption. But they also recommend smaller group sizes. We will consider increasing the group sizes if things go well. But for now, we ask you all to be patient (but only in the non NHS sense).
A big reason for the limit of six is to allow the use of cafe stops. Government restrictions still set a maximum group of six individuals from different households for cafes - and only for outdoor seating. Our recommended group size of 6 is chosen with this in mind.
