CTC Cambridge

Joan Wooldridge 1944 - 2011

Joan was a much-loved member of CTC Cambridge who rode with the club for many years with her husband David. She was killed in a road accident in April 2011 whilst they were riding home to Haslingfield after a club ride.

In addition to riding with the club, Joan loved cycle touring with her husband David, and everyone who knew her was in awe of her cycling adventures all over the world. Joan's last major tour was in the winter of 2010-11 when she and David cycled from Singapore, through Malaysia and Thailand, to Pattaya.

However her most remarkable trip was probably a 16,755 mile ride the length of the Americas in 2000-02. The story of this ride, together with many of their other adventures, can be found on Joan's and David's website www.davidjoan.me.uk

Joan was a joint founder of our weekly Thursday rides which since 1990 have started alternately from Haslingfield and Hauxton. A fine wooden bench has been installed on Haslingfield Green in memory of Joan, and our rides from Haslingfield now assemble there.
