Nigel writes: Tonight was a fine winter evening: dry, clear and with only a light westerly wind. These rides are timed to coincide with the full moon, which on this occasion we were able to enjoy for the whole evening.
The good weather brought out six members for tonight's ride: John, Alex, Neil, Sven, Ian W and me. Our route this evening was a "anti-clockwise Dullingham". We started by riding down Hills Road to Addenbrooke's and turning left onto Worts Causeway to ride over the Gogs to Fulbourn. From there we continued through Little and Great Wilbraham before turning east to Six Mile Bottom.
The temperature was initially quite mild, but the temperature dropped as the evening progressed, making one or two of us withing we had bought warmer gloves.
When we reached Six Mile Bottom we turned right and climbed up to Wadlow Farm before turning north towards Dullingham along a sequence of charming, empty lanes. When we reached Dullingham we turned towards Swaffham Prior.
Puncture repair
A puncture along the way caused us a short delay so we decided to skip Swaffham Prior and ride directly to Quy via the A1303, which at this time of night was very quiet. We reached The White Swan in Quy at 8.45pm, just in time to order drinks and portions of chips.
At The White Swan, Quy
Afterwards we returned back to Cambridge via Fen Ditton and the river. I arrived home just after 8.45pm, having cycled
31 miles.
