Nigel writes: Autumn seem to have arrived this week, and a dull, damp day was followed by a dull, damp evening. The prospect of rain put almost everybody off this evening's ride, so when I turned up at Brookside the only other member to join me was Tiia.
We set off from Brookside in light drizzle, but by a few moments later when we reached Parker's Piece it had started to rain more heavily, and I suggested to Tiia that we might abandon the ride. Tiia, however, was keen for a ride and persuaded me to carry on - not that I needed much persuading.
The route this evening was a clockwise loop via Quy, Bottisham and Swaffham Bulbeck to Dullingham, followed by a return via the Woodland Cemetry cross-roads and Six Mile Bottom. Initially the rain showed signs of going away and the first half of the ride was quite fast, assisted by a tailwind.
However but by the time we reached Dullingham it was raining steadily. It was also quite dark. Eventially the rain stopped and our return ride through Six Mile Bottom and on to the Wilbrahams simply had a headwind to contend with. Our planned pub stop was at Great Wilbraham but as we were somewhat damp we agreed to skip it and go straight home.
As we had not stopped for a drink, I arrived back home at the relatively early time of 9.05pm, having cycled
30 miles.

Well done for going out anyway - I certainly didn't feel tempted...
