Nigel writes: This evening was warm and sunny, our bright mood encouraged by Bradley Wiggins's gold medal in the Olympic time trial earlier. There were six of us for this evening's ride: Rob, Tiia, John E, Neil, newcomer Edward and me.
We set off down Hills Road and when we reached Addenbrooke's we turned left onto Wort's Causeway for the climb over The Gogs to Fulbourn. I was in the mood for a fast ride this evening and I was pleased that most of the others were too. We continued through the Wilbrahams to Six Mile Bottom and then climbed up to the cross-roads by the Woodland Cemetery. By now the earlier cloud had completely cleared and it was sunny and bright.
We turned north towards Dullingham before turning west for Swaffham Bilbeck, Bottisham and Quy. When we reached Fen Ditton, a woman we passed was clearly infected by today's Olympic success and called out "Go, Wiggo, go!". We stopped at The Plough for a drink and a bowl of chips before returning back to Cambridge. I was home by 9.15pm, having cycled a little over
31 miles.
