Sven writes: I arrived at Brookside with the knowledge that todays ride would be windy, with a northeasterly wind of up to 17mph expecting us. I was greeted by three riders, Neil, Tom A and Tom M. We set off on the dot, heading southbound towards the Gog Magog hills on the way to Fulbourn, then via Wilbraham and Six Mile Bottom, and turning into the wind en route to Dullingham.
On the stretch to Swaffham Bulbeck we felt the wind tug at our jerseys. We rode at a pleasant steady pace, and arrived in Lode again on the dot, as noted by Tom A with great pleasure, to enter The Shed at 8.30pm precisely. The warmth of the pub was greeted by all of us with gratitude.
We set off homewards at 9.15pm, having layered up for the swift ride home. My three fellow cyclists turned off at High Ditch Road, whereas I sped along the A1303 heading towards Teversham, and arrived home at 9.45pm having ridden
28 miles.
