Nigel writes: Tonight was a mild, dry evening but the dominant weather of the weather was fog. It was not dense and was probably closer to heavy mist than fog, but the result was to make this evening's ride a rather gloomy one. I left the house in rather a rush: the boss had encountered a problem with my code just before I was due to finish work which detained me for an extra ten minutes. In the hurry to get prepared I forgot my phone, so no photos tonight.
My companions this evening were David S, Andrew and Tom, and the four of us enjoyed one of our classic evening loops. This started with a ride along Hills Road to Addenbrooke's and continued with the climb over the Gogs to Fulbourn followed by a run along the flat to Six Mile Bottom.
We then climbed Brinkley Road as far as Cemetery Crossroads before turning left for Dullingham and the gentle descent back down to Swaffham Bulbeck.
We reached our designated pub stop, The Shed in Lode, at about 8.20pm only to find the chef was sick, so we decided to carry on to see if we could get some food at the White Swan in Quy, only to find the kitchen was closed here as well. We therefore settled down with beers and packets of crisps for a pleasant half hour (during which Nigel talked at excessive length about the joys of Audaxing) before continuing back into Cambridge. I arrived home at 10pm, having cycled 51km (
31 miles)
