Neil writes: I was met at Brookside by a group of eight, including newcomer Simon and second-timer Carina, plus regulars David, John, Mike, Phil and Simon. We left Cambridge via the Coton cycle path and continued through Coton village, and onto a direct route westwards using Madingley Road and St Neots Road, past Hardwick and Bourn airfield. We turned south towards Bourn, then carried on through Caxton to Great Gransden.
Brookside
This brought us to within a few miles of our destination, but to make sure of a full two-hour ride, we rode on a loop to Abbotsley and back through Waresley village to the garden centre.
A few days before an election, the roads are of course full of election posters, and one can measure progress across the country by watching the candidates' faces on the posters change. I reckon we passed through three different constituencies.
After tea, we retraced our route to Bourn, then returned to Cambridge, with the wind behind us now, on the B1046 (Toft, Comberton and Barton). There was a threat of rain, but it held off until I was home. I rode a distance of 66 km (
41 miles).
