Nigel writes: Tonight was mild but overcast, with a threat of rain later. Waiting at Brookside for this evening's ride were Julia, Ian, Peter D, Paul, John F and newcomer Yasmine.
We set off south out of Cambridge along Trumpington Road, the busway cycleway and the DNA path to Great Shelford. With the wind behind us we made rapid progress.
From Great Shelford we took the road to Little Shelford and Whittlesford, still with the wind behind us. Just before we reached Whittlesford we turned right and followed a course north-west through Newton, Harston, Haslingfield and the Eversdens to Kingston.
Just beyond Kingston we turned east for the final few miles to our pub stop at the White Horse in Barton, which we reached early at 8.15pm.
As we sat in the pub sharing a huge bowl of cheesy chips (the house speciality) the rain arrived.
The final few miles back into Cambridge were in quite heavy rain, but we didn't have far to go and I was back home by 9.20pm, having cycled about
28 miles.

This was my first Wednesday ride this year, and I really enjoyed it, despite the rather wet end. Thanks to all, especially to Nigel for planning the route, and for Peter for the cheesy chips! :)
